HOW TO : Step It Up For The Second Half Of The Year

HOW TO : Step It Up For The Second Half Of The Year

Guyssssss, June is only a few days away! We. are. almost. half-way. through. 2019. ALREADY.

We have about 30 days left in the first half of 2019. This is a chance to step back and evaluate your year so far. I’m sure you made resolutions and set goals at the beginning of January (that likely didn’t last past January - I’m guilty of this too)… so THIS IS A CALL TO ACTION! This is an opportunity to grab life by the horns and get your goals back on track if necessary - for the second half of the year!

A lot can happen in 365 days. But a lot can also happen in 30 days….TBH, a lot can happen in 7.

You can quit a job you hate. You can lose the weight you’ve been unhappy about. You can purge that closet you’ve been saying you’ll do for months. You can find yourself transitioning from season to season blossoming and growing into a newer, better version of yourself. You can also stay complacent and in a situation you’re unhappy with because you’re fearful of change. You can start dating someone new and fall madly in love and then also fall out of love just as fast. Life is filled with endless possibilities. Some good. Some ugly. But all presenting the opportunity for growth.

Let’s do some reflecting, shall we? Let’s do some really hard thinking over some not-so-fun topics re: LIFE.

What’s your financial situation?
How’s your diet?
How’s your career?
How’s that relationship treating you (with someone else or yourself)?
Where are you in those goals you set at the turn of the year all bright-eyed and bushy tailed ready to take on the new year?
Are you happy where you are right now or are there aspects of your life that you desperately want to improve?

I think this is the best time of year to reassess all of these things and circle back with yourself.

These are 3 steps I’m taking to step things up for the second half of my year and you can too.

“Without reflection, we go blindly on our way, creating more unintended consequences, and failing to achieve anything useful.” — Meg Wheatley

    • How has the first half of 2019 been for you?

    • What are some successes, failures, lessons, milestones so far?

    • What can you be doing better?

    • What do you want to achieve by the end of 2019?

    • Did you sit back and consume more or take time to produce a better version of yourself?

    • Are you in the same place (financially, romantically, physically) that you didn’t want to be in at the start of the year?

    • Am I engaging in behaviours, relationships, activities that are not serving my bigger picture goals?

Be brutally honest with yourself. Grab a journal and start reflecting!

Identify patterns of behaviour in yourself and remind yourself that the patterns you’re unhappy with are not written in stone - and you have the power to change them. But also think about how far you’ve come and don’t forget to celebrate all your wins (big and small)!

“I’ve found that small wins, small projects, small differences often make huge differences". - Rosabeth Moss Kanter

There are 30 days in June. I challenge you to set a goal for the next 30 days. Start small. But with a bigger picture in mind. Take these next 30 days to set yourself up with better habits for success so you can crush the second-half of 2019.

My personal goal for the month of June is to complete a morning routine for the 30 days - which has been been inspired by Robin Sharma’s 5am Club.

The rules of the 5am Club are:

    #1. Rise at 5am
#2. Spend your first 20 minutes on exercise which will release dopamine and serotonin
#3. Invest the next 20 working on your plan/goals/dreams
#4. Devote the last 20 to learning - read, listen to a podcast, watch a video on something you want to learn
#5. Run this 20/20/20 Formula for 66 days

Although the rules are to follow this for 66 days - I’m making it a goal to start with 30 days and prime myself for the second-half of the year.

“If you can consistently build better mornings, you’re going to have consistently better days, weeks, months, quarters, and years.” - Robin Sharma

“Thoughts become things. If you see it in your mind, you will hold it in your hand.” - Bob Proctor

OK, it’s happened to all of us. We wake up on the wrong side of the bed, we get in a mood, then start noticing bad things happening one after another. These accumulated mishaps confirm that you’re having a bad day. But what if I told you that you have complete control over that. Annoying/stupid/bad/frustrating things happen! But when you prioritize positivity, you’ll find a way to let those things slide off your back and turn the day around quicker.

This analogy is a really great reminder not to let one negative thing impact your whole day.

“If you have $86,400 in your bank account and someone stole $10 from you, would you be upset and throw all $86,390 away in hopes of getting back at that person who took it? Or would you move on and live? We have 86,400 seconds in every day, so don’t let a negative 10 seconds ruin the rest of the 86,390.”

What you focus on, you manifest into reality. If you focus on abundance, you will attract wealth. If you focus on scarcity, you will get more of that, So if you’re focusing on crappy things that happen in life, you’ll only attract more crap. if you try to shift your attention and focus on the good things, the small wins, whatever you can think about that makes you feel happy and truly grateful, you’ll see your reality start to change with it.

ALRIGHT, so who’s with me?

We have 30 days left to finish off the first-half of 2019 on a high-note!!
What goals and habits are you going to create this month to set you up for the best damn second-half of any year we’ve ever seen?!
